The CORPI Group has completed the turnkey project for the wastewater treatment plant at Color Center’s new factory in Barcelona. CORPI was responsible for all civil works, design, installation, and commissioning of the treatment plant.

The wastewater generated from cleaning the manufacturing reactors contains a wide variety of contaminants. Therefore, it is first directed to an underground homogenization tank, which is aerated to prevent the formation of unpleasant odors. In this tank, the wastewater undergoes neutralization to adjust the pH to 7.

Next, a pump system lifts the wastewater to the physicochemical treatment stage, where coagulant, neutralizing agent, and flocculant are dosed. This causes suspended solids to coagulate and flocculate, which are then directed to a settling tank for clarification by sedimentation. Afterward, the clarified water is sent to an SBR-type biological reactor for the degradation of organic matter and surfactants. Finally, the treated water can be discharged into the municipal sewer system in compliance with applicable regulations.

The sludge generated during treatment is collected in a thickener for final dewatering in a filter press.
